The Dolomites and Zurs

Our 2017 tour combined the Dolomites and Austria in a 12 night tour, which commenced in the quaint Alta Badia village of San Cassiano with a stay at the Rosa Alpina. Owned by the Pizzinini family since 1940 this magnificent Relais
& Chateaux property is now run with precision by Hugo Pizzinini.  

We then took our ski group south in the Dolomiti to a very remote rifugio only accessible by snow cat or snow mobile, during the winter months. 

On the first evening our group met for hot Brule (mulled Italian wine) on the terrace of Rifugio Fuciade watching the sun set over the snow capped mountains towering over us.  We all listened intently to the delightful Emanuela, telling us about her family history and how Rifugio Fuciade started 30 years ago with no running water or electricity. This isolated 8 room house is now one of the culinary destinations in the Dolomiti with 140 settings nightly for a degustaion delight. Emanuela and Sergio’s son is now the chef creating delicious gourmet meals out of their newly renovated modern kitchen where they also offer cooking classes and demonstrations.

Highlights of our time in the Dolomites were skiing the Sella Ronda, stunning vistas at every turn, skiing past ice waterfalls and through canyons, the fabulous Italian hospitality, superb food, unique experiences and a great way to get our ski legs ready for Lech.

The second part of our 2017 Ski Buzz tour returned to Lech in the magnificent Arlberg region of Austria. Once again, we enjoyed the hospitality on offer by the Walch family at the hotel Gotthard

Six days of sunshine, superb snow, fabulous skiing lead by our entertaining guide Jakob, a day of off-piste adventure in back country and much drinking enhanced by the "apres fun" famous in the Arlberg region finished off our Ski Buzz 2017 tour perfectly.
